♡ Bella's Room Tour 2017 ♡

Before anything else in this post, I first wanna say that my room is currently cleaner than it has been in a couple of weeks right now because, of course, I wanted it to be pretty for the pictures in this post. Overall, I'm not a slob or anything by any means, especially when it comes to my living space, but I've been so busy since the beginning of June that I'm really only ever in my room either while I'm in a hurry to get ready because I woke up so late, resulting in me leaving with drawers left open and my bed left unmade, or after I come back from whatever it was I got ready for so hurriedly in the first place that I kind of just collapse without worrying about the mess I'd left for myself--and then the cycle repeats the next morning. However, today was rare in that I didn't have to close at work today, meaning I actually have time to get stuff done--so hello, here I am, in my freshly cleaned room!

As I briefly mentioned in my previous blog post, I did just move houses--I've been in this one for about a month now--and after years of living in a room both cluttered and painted with and by awful, impulsive, preteen era-Bella decisions (my room in my old house was painted yellow with purple accents), I finally have the incredibly girly, incredibly pink room that I've been wanting for a long while now. I partially wanted to mention this in this post just for the sake of introduction, but I also did want to disclose that my room is in fact pink in case the color is showing up weird in the photos--I have a yellow-tinted light that makes everything look discolored in pictures, combined with the fact that I edit all of my photos so that they all more or less look uniform to one another.

I know already that this is going to be a longer post, so enough rambling--here's my 2017 room tour!

In keeping with every other room tour out there ever, here's a lil overview of what I've got going on before I get into detail.

I apologize if this makes your eyes feel a little wonky--I know mine do every time I look at a blurred, out-of-focus picture--but my calendar has some personal information written on it, such as where I work, where I go to school, et cetera. But I figured this was as good a place to start as any since it is pretty much the first thing you "encounter" (for a lack of a better word) when you enter my room. I got this dry erase calendar from Target quite recently, actually; it didn't come with me to the new house from my old one but is instead a newer addition, one that I decided to invest in after I started to get really busy. As you can kind of see in the little writing section on the right, I have my calendar events color coded--pink for personal, purple for school, and green for work (and the fact that there's as much green as there is should tell you a lot about me and how I spend my time)--and color coding, for me, is really and truly the cornerstone of my success and organization. I won't go too much into it because this post isn't about my organization habits, but basically, if I have to write down any piece of information, I try to color code it in some way because associating color to something automatically makes it so, so much easier for me to remember it.

During the school year, I usually use just a regular old planner to help stay organized, but since I never think to go through my backpack for it during the summer, I decided to go with something blatant and obvious that I could see every day and wouldn't be able to ignore or forget about. And now that I've been using it for about a month, I'm thinking that I might just stick with it this coming school year. The only downside, though, is that obviously you can't put as much information on it as you could in a planner, depending on how much you write down--me, I'm forever paranoid that I'm going to forget something about anything, so I write down as much as I can in my planner. So maybe I'll just have to tend to two modes of organization come next month.

In hindsight, this probably should have come before the passage about my calendar because this is technically the first thing in my room now that I think about it, considering it's literally on the back of my door. But, oh well. Anyway, what's interesting about this hook--or what I think is interesting because I still can't get over how professionally installed it looks--is that it actually didn't come with the house; rather, my mom purchased it from Lowe's (I think) and attached it herself, originally with the idea that I would hang my bath towel on it. And I did, for a while. However, I use my parents' bathroom instead of the hallway bathroom that's right across the hall from me, and too often would I either forget my towel in their bathroom anyway or just find it too much of a hassle to haul it all the way from their room to mine (re: sarcasm. I live in a one-story house). Eventually, I "forgot" my towel in their bathroom for the last time and figured there was no point in me taking it back and forth if I'd managed to find a space for it in the bathroom anyway. But even so, my mom was so proud of the work she'd done with this hook--and I was, too!--so it didn't seem right to me that it stay naked.

Fast forward to some time later, when I'd finally pulled some stuff I'd brought home from college from my boyfriend's car after leaving it in there for the past two months that we've actually been home. Within this stuff included the box that I'd thrown my necklaces in in my rush to move out of my dorm; as one can surmise, they were tangled to the dickens. Once I finally wrestled them all free, I considered two things in this exact order:

1. Never throw all of your necklaces into the same box again.
2. Your hook is still naked.

And the rest is history.

Would you guys be interested in seeing a necklace collection? I don't really have much to say about them but if you're interested in seeing them I could probably combine it with another post.

The next thing you come across in my room are my bags, and I just keep them lined up at the base of my bed generally in size order. I initially had put them there when we first moved in because I had nowhere else to put them, but as time went on, I got used to where they were--are--and even grew to like it. Also, I still don't have surface space or anything for them.

The two bags in the back are both backpacks, the larger one being my backpack for the upcoming the school year and the other a gift I received for my birthday this year that is more to be used as a purse and one that I pictured myself wearing around Chicago whenever I visit this summer. The others are just purses that I won't really go into in case you guys want to see a purse collection, too, but essentially I just switch them out depending on what I'm wearing a certain day or how I'm feeling. Most of the time, though, I switch my purse out one day and end up using it for weeks because I'm either too lazy or too busy to transfer my stuff into another one. That Michael Kors purse next to my bed is the one that I'm currently using which is why it isn't in line with the rest, and the little one on my bed has its own place as well because it's a flimsier purse and doesn't stand up like the other ones do.

Moving onto more or less the "main" part of my room: my actual sleeping area. This daybed wasn't the bed frame that I'd had in my old house, but we did have it, and I asked for it when we were in the moving process because I love love love the general princessy feel of daybeds, especially white iron ones like this. However, while I do still love it, it is an absolute pain in the butt to make because you really have to dig behind that backboard to tuck your blankets in and make everything look nice.

Next to my bed I have a fluffy pink area rug that I got from Home Goods, and on top of that I have two pairs of slippers that I don't really use at home but use a lot at school. The unicorns on the left are from ASOS and the ones on the right are from Pretty You London.

My fuzzy baby animal throw blanket is all lumped up in the corner of my bed purely because I didn't want to go through the trouble of folding it when I knew I was just gonna unfold it and use it after I was done taking pictures, but looking at it now, at least it's an overall neat lump. Though I didn't really use throw blankets before I moved away to school last year--my mom got it for me from TJ Maxx, I believe, while we were buying stuff for my dorm--I've gotten a lot of use out of it between then and now, and I wholly recommend it for anyone who's like me; that is, for anyone who gets cold very, very easily but has a thing about getting in their bed in "outside" clothes.

Here's just a closer look at where I sleep. The fluffy pink pillow on the left is from Hobby Lobby, and the sparkly one on the right is from Amazon (the pillow insert was bought separately, but also from Amazon). The stuffed animals that are visible in this picture were all gifts, but I also have a couple more on my bed that are just hiding behind the pillows.

Also, because I didn't mention it earlier, my quilt is from Target, but my parents bought it for me even before I was ten so I know for a fact that it's not there anymore. However, if you're interesting in purchasing something similar, basically everything from Target's Shabby Chic bedding line should do the trick.

This part of my room is both finished and unfinished in that I think that this is the best I can get with this many stuffed animals but it is sloppy overall which bothers me and prompts some neurotic tweaking on my part. However, because I just wanted to get this post up, this is the best I can do for now. I also get a lot of comments on this part of my room, and understandably so--it is a lot, especially for a nineteen-year-old. But I like cute things, stuffed animals included, and beyond that, a lot of these are from my boyfriend, so of course I'll both keep them and show them off.

Also, ignore the cardboard box on the right--it's a straggler from the move-in, and is basically full of junk that I'm in between unpacking and throwing away.

I am constantly excited about this part of my room. I collect Tsum Tsums--mostly the ones that are exclusive to Japan but I do have some that are available in America--and before these shelving units, I just had them stacked on top of one another. But as I've somewhat mentioned in this post, there is little to no surface space left for anything, let alone this many tiny, round stuffed animals, so I had to get a little crafty--or, rather, my boyfriend had to, seeing as he was the one who painted these shelving units white to match the rest of my room. This has been up on my wall for a few weeks now and I'm still in awe of both how cute it looks and how I have the exact amount to fit the shelving units. My only concern is whether or not this means that I can't buy more, since there really isn't room for more!

Running parallel to my bed is my closet, which is closed off by white double doors most of the time--but sometimes I leave it open like this to look at my clothes! Admittedly, it is a lot messier than I'd like for it to be for this photo, because, as I've said, I'm usually getting ready in a rush, so I usually just grab the clothes I want to wear and haphazardly fix the mess I leave behind. Overall, though, I'm still as happy with it as I was when I first moved in and it was all fixed up nice and neat.

On the left, I have all my dresses in a general rainbow order, but I have some purposely put at the front either because they're particular favorites or because I receive them in the mail and want to keep them towards the front to remind myself to wear them soon. Folded on the shelf above my dresses are two sweater dresses that I don't like to put on hangers because hangers distort the look of their shoulders.

In the middle shelves, from top to bottom, are: my cardigans (separated into two piles--plain and dressy), my tops (left to right: tank tops, "nice" t-shirts, and "fashion" tops), my bottoms (left to right: jeans, sweatpants/leggings, and shorts), and t-shirts (left to right: the ones I wear out, the ones I wear to bed, and long-sleeved ones).

On the right, I have my blouses and jackets hanging on the top and my skirts on the bottom, separated by a shelf containing pajama bottoms, workout clothes, and random clothes that I don't really wear but wear enough to not want to give them away.

Along the floor of my closet, I just have random stuff: a box of childhood projects, smaller stuffed animals that got lost with the rest, the decorations for my dorm, et cetera.

Let me know if you'd like to see an in-depth closet tour!

Hello! Directly to the right of my closet, I have a full length mirror that I got from Target next to the light switch for my closet. Right above it is just a threefold frame of my and Riley's dance pictures from my senior year of high school.

I'd also like to point out that the only reason why I'm head to toe in black is because I'm still wearing my work clothes, which is actually a jumpsuit from Fashion Nova if you're interested. Fun fact; I chose to wear this piece of clothing specifically for work today because I woke up an hour later than I was supposed to and figured I might as well put on my top and pants at the same time.

My shoe shelf is probably my favorite part of my room, both because of the shelf itself and because of how perfectly the shelf fits in this irregular corner of my room. At the very top of my shelf I keep my three glittery pairs of shoes--gold Betsey Johnsons my best friend got me from a vintage store for Christmas, pink sparkly heels, and pink sequin Keds--next to what is probably my favorite pair of shoes, a pair of pink patent leather boots with pink perspex heels. Then, in descending order, are my "girly" shoe shelf, my "going out" shoe shelf, my "miscellaneous" shelf (which also has some small stuffed animals that I didn't have any space for--I literally have no free surfaces in here!), my sandal shelf, and my boot shelf that also holds my athletic shoes, shower shoes for school, and flip flops. The black pair of sandals sitting next to the shelf are the sandals I wear to work, and they're left out because I wear them essentially every day, as well as the fact that there's no room left for them.

In between my shelf and my vanity is a pink tote that I got from House of CB because it looks incredibly similar to a Louis Vuitton tote for a fraction of the price--and because, like I said, it's pink!

If you're still reading by this point, congratulations! We've made it to the final part of my room: my vanity. Because there's so much cluttering my vanity's surface, I'm going to split it up into a few parts, but here's the general overview. You can't really see it, but the chair I have is a pink plush chair with sort of a velvety upholstering, and around the back I've hung my robe from the 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York City. The vanity itself I got from an antique store about half an hour away from where I live, but judging off the look and the quality of it, I doubt that it's an antique as much as it is a DIY'd piece. To the right of my vanity are just a simple trash can and my backpack from the past school year.

Let's start with the left half of my vanity. Most of my "smaller" makeup is kept in a plastic organization unit I got from Target; the top drawer contains eye makeup such as eyeliner and mascara, the middle lipsticks and lip glosses, and the bottom face makeup such as concealer, setting powder, and highlighter. On top of the unit itself are a rose from my eighteenth birthday party--I am Filipino and had a traditional debut during which I received roses from the men on my "court," of which I kept one just as a souvenir--my boyfriend's bottle of Advil that he accidentally left with me, a small snow globe from another one of my best friend's native Jamaica, and a sad but very cute "cat" that I made in a pottery class when I was little.

I also have a water bottle from my lunch today that I'm determined to finish before I go to bed tonight, both for hydration's sake and for the sake of not throwing away another water bottle just because it's been sitting around in my room for ages.

Next come all of my eyeshadow palettes that I won't go too in depth with in case any of you want to see a makeup collection, but spoiler alert: all but one of them are from Too Faced.

Also, if you zoom in on the yellow thing that's sitting on top of my eyeshadow palettes, you can see a small Pikachu that my best friend made for me for this past Christmas out of a pom pom and glued it to an old eyeshadow single due to my love for makeup.

I also want to point out the Hufflepuff nametag that I stuck in the frame of my mirror. This was actually the nametag that was on the door of my dorm room throughout this past semester and was handmade by my crafty then-RA. Comment down below with what House you belong to!

This blog post is long enough and I should just be covering my bases, but I wanted to give these their own section just because I love them so much. If you've read my About Me section, you'd know that one of my style inspirations are the Chanels from the former television series Scream Queens, and if you've watched Scream Queens, you'd know that one of the Chanels, Chanel #3, wears glamorous, bedazzled earmuffs. Ever since I saw the first episode of Scream Queens, I wanted a pair for my own, and this past Christmas, my parents gifted me with the one on the far right. The pearly pair in the middle is a recent addition, as is the headband that is made by the same person on Etsy. I haven't been able to wear these much lately because of the heat, rain, and humidity that come with the summertime, but keep an eye out for these in future lookbooks, especially when colder weather hits!

This isn't the best picture but I wanted to give this a section of its own because it's separated from all my other Tsum Tsums and also because it's just that adorable. This Tsum Tsum wreath was an Easter special that is exclusive to Japan, and my dad was able to pick it up for me when he was in Japan at the end of May. Though this is not available for purchase in America, I've seen it on eBay if you fall in love with it like I did.

The final part of my room: the right side of vanity. There's really nothing interesting here, or maybe I was just rushing to finish taking pictures so that I could get this post up that I didn't think to take a more interesting picture, but on this side I just keep the things that help me smell good, such as my deodorant, lotion, and perfumes. The sales associate in me is punching myself for not fronting and facing these bottles before taking these pictures, but basically, I just have three bottles of Vanilla Lace body spray from Victoria's Secret, which used to be my go-to until I smelled Sweet Like Candy by Ariana Grande, of which I have both the perfume and the hair mist. I also have Ariana's debut fragrance, Ari, which is denoted by the white puff behind Sweet Like Candy. Behind all the other bottles is another body spray from Victoria's Secret that I can't be bothered to get up and look at the name of but I know that it smells like cherries and is discontinued.

Next to my perfumes are two mason jars that I use to hold my makeup brushes--one for face brushes and the other for eye brushes--which I filled with craft pearls and gems just to fill up the empty space and help stabilize the brushes somewhat. The pink ribbon around the mouth of the jars didn't come with them--my mom was the one who added that extra flair just to make it girlier, which never, ever hurts in my book.

Not pictured is a glittery mug that I keep all of my dry erase markers that I use for my calendar--and just like that, we've come full circle!

I won't write a long outro just because I'm sure you've already endured enough if you were strong enough to soldier through this post. However much you read, I deeply, deeply appreciate you visiting me here at La Salle Belle, and I look forward to talking to you again in my next post!

À bientôt,
Bella
